Budget Setting

The following steps outline how you can allocate and manage project budgets effectively as an admin.

Ways to Set a Budget

You can set project budgets in two ways:

  1. From My Projects: Navigate to "My Projects" and click on the "Add Budget" option.

  2. From the Project Details Page: Click on the "Add Budget" option from the project details page.

Entering the Budget

When you click on the "Add Budget" option, a pop-up window will appear, allowing you to:

  • Enter the budget amount
  • Select the currency (only Euros available for now)
  • Click the "Submit" button to confirm your budget settings

Once you submit the budget, you will be able to view and edit the allocated budget under "My Projects."

Budget Visibility

After you set the budget, other team members including standard users, consumers and publishers will be able to view the allocated budget under "My Projects" if they are added to the project.

Notifications and Alerts

Understanding Soft Budget Limits:

  • These budgets serve as soft budget limits, meaning they trigger alerts and notifications when approaching thresholds but do not restrict service usage.
  • The system continues to operate normally even when budget limits are exceeded.
  • As an upcoming feature, there would be an option to set hard limits as well that would restrict compute and stop all cost related functionality. Stay tuned for details (Coming soon).

Alert Notifications for Admins:

You will receive notification alerts via system message pop-ups, notifications, and emails at:

  • 80% consumption: Early warning to review your usage
  • 90% consumption: Time to consider reaching out to your admin
  • 95% consumption: Action required - You are almost at the budget limit mark
  • 100% consumption: Action required - budget limit reached

Alert Notifications for Team Members:

Standard users, consumers and publishers will receive notification alerts via system message pop-ups and notifications at:

  • 80% consumption: Early warning to review your usage
  • 90% consumption: Time to consider reaching out to your admin
  • 95% consumption: Action required - You are almost at the budget limit mark
  • 100% consumption: Action required - budget limit reached

Managing Budget Alerts:

  • Monitor your budget usage regularly through the project dashboard
  • Take proactive action when you receive 80%-95% usage alerts
  • Consider adjusting budgets or optimizing resource usage when approaching limits
  • Use budget notifications to maintain cost control across your projects
